Creating an image that’s right for you doesn’t just require a good hair stylist. It involves a meeting of minds. Ultimately, if client and hair stylist fail to meet somewhere between the dream of the client and the vision of the stylist, the results can be devastating. Will Jones, an internationally-trained hair stylist, understands the benefits of a good connection between client and hair stylist. It’s one thing to feel like Cinderella while you’re attending the ball, but imagine if our fairy princess actually remained goddess-like even after the clock struck midnight? When was the last time you invested heavily in a new hairdo only to discover that the image fell apart once you walked out of the salon or arose from sleep the next morning? Being able to bounce back to fabulous the morning after a Friday night out on the town, is more affordable and accessible than people realize.
A visit to the hair salon can be as nerve-racking as a trip to the dentist. We become anxious, apprehensive and worried about the risk of investing in something that may have painful results. We may recall our previous experience with a bad hair cut or a lousy hair style that didn’t last, or we may remember the damage caused by a color or perm that stayed in a little too long. It’s no fun walking around for days or weeks trying to grow out a style that someone imposed on us and it’s even more annoying to don a style that we hate but are stuck with until our hair grows out or, worse still, falls out as a result of poor workmanship, inferior products or a combination of both.
Hair extensions afford clients an opportunity to enjoy a cosmetic lift without damaging the hair; it’s like color correction or instant bad haircut repair. Yet, when it comes to hair extensions, potential clients are cautious. They’ve heard the nightmare stories; often the consequence of low quality extensions being applied by someone who neither has a sincere passion for hair nor an experienced understanding of applying extensions.
Yet, if quality fibers are applied with expertise and the client takes care to maintain the extensions as they would their own hair, the rewarding result speaks for itself. High quality extensions skillfully applied by a trained specialist, yields benefits such as protecting the ends of hair, normally damaged by pollution, the sun or chemicals.
A couple of years ago, I decided to reinvent my image and the new me has remained intact to this day. As a paralegal and freelance writer, I needed a system flexible enough to transform my corporate image into a fun and glamorous persona within minutes. I recalled wearing hair extensions as a college student in England during the 1980s. Back then, my budget only afforded me the opportunity to model for Antenna Hair Salon trainees who were flocking to Simon Forbes’s salon to learn how to apply monofibre extensions using his newly developed groundbreaking techniques. After an absence of almost twenty years, I visited Antenna Hair Salon in 2004 and emerged a new woman. When I decided to move to San Francisco in 2005, Antenna recommended Will Jones. I’ve been with Will ever since.
